The project is located in the city of Duhok as a mixed-use development that integrates commercial, office, and residential functions within a rapidly evolving urban context that calls for architectural frameworks beyond conventional functional logic. It originates from a critical reading of the mixed-use building as a static entity, proposing instead an alternative vision: a living architectural body in which functions overlap and engage in dialogue rather than merely coexist.
The vertical mass has been deconstructed into a series of stepped elements that allow space to permeate through them, generating a visual and kinetic rhythm that mitigates the heaviness of height and reconnects the building with its urban surroundings. The façade operates as an intermediate membrane, regulating light and climate while providing the project with a clear and cohesive architectural expression.
Within the office floors, the external staircases are reimagined as productive spatial structures, functioning as extensions of the workspace and creating semi-public zones for pause and interaction. In this way, vertical circulation becomes an integral part of the daily working experience, rather than a purely functional transition.
This architectural body reaches its culmination at the roof level, which is activated as an extension of lived space and connected to the residential component, reinforcing the transformation of the project from a building that merely accommodates functions into a structure that actively contributes to shaping a more diverse and dynamic urban landscape.
